I have been scammed by someone who made a fakewebstore by using the Shopify service.
The fake webshop was registered under the name: www.decemberactie.com
I know this scammer used shopify because in the e-mail confirmation that i have gotten after placing my order you see Shopify. I’ve attached a screenshot.
The scammer took the fake webshop down after many consumers threatened to go to the authorities.
What is Shopify doing against these scammers?
Shopify don’t seem to care as long as they get their money from the companies using the service. I’ve just had zero luck on the Webchat with shopify asking if they can make contact with the company I’ve ordered from as the contact details they give just bounce msgs back and the address is a fake address, they went to a lot of trouble to try and look real but some digging soon found the evidence it’s a scam. Wish I’d known about shopify not checking who uses the platform because they obviously don’t care that a lot of their users are scammers. I’ve lost money and no Christmas present for my daughter. My payment said still going through so I contacted my bank who said it can’t be stopped ! So no help anywhere. Very disappointed in the customer service from Shopify they have made it clear they don’t care about customers being scammed only about the money they receive from the real and fake businesses paying to use the platform.
