Scroll issue on Chrome WebView 141 & Android & Mobile

Hello,

For the past few days, I’ve started seeing a large number of sessions with no scrolling activity thanks to LuckyOrange. It seems that in these sessions, users are stuck and unable to scroll; some have even tried refreshing the page four times without being able to resolve the problem.

Analyzing the sessions, every time this type of session occurs, it’s with this specific configuration:

  • On a mobile phone
  • Via Chrome web view version 141
  • On Android

This affects 75% of my paid Meta traffic. Chrome “Web View” comes from the Meta integration for loading a website without leaving the Meta application. Version 141 was released on September 30, 2025, and I checked the sessions before September 30th, and I didn’t have this problem.
Here is the link to version 141: Chrome 141  |  Release notes  |  Chrome for Developers

I’ve tried many things:

  • Disabling added applications (Nothing changes)
  • Changing the theme (Nothing changes)
  • Trying to reproduce the problem (in vain, since I don’t have a real phone with the Meta application on Android)
  • Contacting Shopify (Apparently, it’s not coming from them)
  • Contacting the theme support (Ongoing)
  • Contacting Lucky Orange (They’ve never heard of it)

So, I’ve analyzed this problem quite a bit to continue investigating, but I’m putting this out there to see if anyone else is experiencing this.
Have you noticed a drop in your statistics since September 30th without knowing why ? (Bounce rate, visit duration, orders, atc, etc.)
Do you also have sessions coming from your advertising campaigns with no scrolling activity ?
Or any other recent issues this month ?

Anyway, I hope I’m not the only one

You didn’t say whether or not you have replicated the issue yourself.

“Trying to reproduce the problem (in vain, since I don’t have a real phone with the Meta application on Android)”

To discuss this point in detail, I tried opening my page with an emulator, but I wasn’t able to get the Chrome configuration with WebView. So no, unfortunately, I wasn’t able to reproduce the problem. It would be necessary to reproduce the actual customer journey, using a real Android phone, going through Facebook and clicking on my ad, opening my site via the Chrome browser integrated into Facebook

And how do you know the traffic are actual humans getting “stuck”? Are they contacting you and informing you?

I know this because 75% of my visitors, whose sessions are recorded using LuckyOrange, exhibit the same behavior:

No scrolling
Attempted clicks
Attempted page refreshes

And this only happens on the same configuration (Chrome Web View 141, Mobile, Android). It’s very strange not to see this phenomenon on other configurations. I don’t have a single session with this configuration that worked correctly.

Hey,

Thanks for explaining very clearly. Could you please share your store url so that I can take a look into it.

Thanks

Yep, this page for example : Collection Renaissance - Hydratation & Lissage – Juvenys

Hello,

Some news. Meta & LuckyOrange have no idea of this subject. So i test on a old shop and i don’t have this issue.

So I downloaded the theme, compared the configurations, settings, applications, etc., to make everything the same. But the issue is still here…

Did you have an idea of what happen on my shop ? There is something different after i do this ?
