Search Bars Missing/Disappeared

Oh look, it changed, yet again but still doesn’t work like it previously did. :face_with_tongue:

Looks like this now.

Please shopify, have the bar already be open, or return it to where I can just click on it. We use this all the time.

@AtwoodRope Do you mean it has changed recently? I can’t see ANOTHER change from what is being discussed here.

I doubt many here can decipher the point you’re trying to make with the code.

Yes, the html class identifiers that represent that button that you click to open that search bar keep changing because it’s part of the automatic generated code that the front end generates when they make internal changes to their code.

I just want it to do this when I either refresh the page or click on a bar on the left that refreshes that content:

I’m still manually implementing this. Would be great if Shopify already included this as an option to automatically have the search bar selected whenever it is on the screen as an option. I can’t number the times now that it is the very first thing I need to do on any of their pages that have that little search bar option.

Wow, and i thought i was the only one that felt like my words were being deleted as I typed them. It was only happening on the search bar if I remember correctly. The other bars seemed to operate like normal. Maybe the predictive code is just too slow or the response time just absolutely is bogged down and horribly implemented and they will have to either revisit, or remove the ‘perk’ on the search bar. hmmmm.

Same here - search is definitely much more buggy. Also, lame, they don’t prioritize product title in the product search results, I have had 1000’s of skus and even if I type an exact title of a product it could be on page 5 of the search results.

If possible, it’d be nice to have the search bar automatically selected on load or when the panel is clicked on the side.

just trying to eliminate the clicking of ‘f’ or updating custom code for daily use.

thanks.

Still wishing for the older style smooth and fast search that’s there when i come to greet it. Not have to scream the search bar’s name, click a hotkey on the keyboard, or click a button on the mouse on the screen for my blessed search bar to appear to serve me most graciously. I’d also love for it not to gurgle at me when I try to type things in and instead of brushing the bar’s hair it gets all messed up and sticky as it oozes it’s own honey and words in my face trying to auto correct or whatever it is trying to do. Not very cool from a user experience.

All in all, these are dainty complaints about how things used to be. Why is it that external apps on the shopify store attempt to fix these problems, but shopify itself is slow to follow? (maybe it’s too big?) (a recent example was the hide express icons/option at checkout. A recent app on the store fixed this? Simple easy option? We (anyone below premium accounts) were denied for years… also forced to display express options by disabling our access to top-level-navigation attributes on checkout… don’t worry I’m not bitter.)

Hope to see some really neat things coming out in the future. Fixes, improvements, etc. Not… wherever this was going mr search bar.

Just adding my name to this list of frustrated users. NOW we have to navigate a DIFFERENT way to search in our admin AGAIN.

It wasn’t broke, why did you change it?

Do any of the backend shopify designers actually HAVE a shopify store that they run so they can see what we see?

Or are you just looking to change things to keep your staff busy?

These new changes just aggravate - they don’t do anything for us except annoy us.
