Search & Discovery app - use related items as metafield

Topic summary

  • Goal: surface Related Products (from Shopify’s Search & Discovery app) inside a theme’s featured collection block with tabs.

  • Current limitation: the block can pull from selected collections or dynamic resources, but it doesn’t accept Related Products or Recently Viewed items as a source.

  • Request: expose the app’s Related Products as a metafield (custom data field) that could be used as a collection-like source for the block.

  • Context: issue observed on the Concept theme; similar challenges encountered on Prestige and other themes.

  • Technical note: Search & Discovery controls product recommendations; metafields would serve as a bridge if the app’s related items could be stored/referenced per product or collection.

  • Status: no solution or workaround provided; the question remains open/unresolved.

Goal: add Related Products from Search & Discovery app into collection block

The them we are using provides a featured collection block. We can use this to select any existing collection, or multiple collections. The viewer can then click on the name of that collection to see a row of products from that collection. This nicely tabbed block can also pull from dynamic resources. However, there is no way that I know of to pull related items or even recently viewed items into this block. Is there a way to create a metafield for the Related Products that are set up in this app and then use that to appear as a collection?
The theme is Concept. But I am having issues trying to do this with Prestige an other themes as well.
