In each Shopify page’s search engine listings, how do page titles and meta descriptions contribute, if at all, to AEO? Are there other ways similar to SEO or on the backend that we can improve AEO without having to fully revamp our public-facing website pages? There are some ways for us to improve the wording on our website, especially for our product descriptions, but we’re unsure how far to take it.
Hi @francesg
This is David from SearchPie here!
In AEO, page titles and meta descriptions act as machine-readable summary fields rather than just click-bait. Titles should clearly name the primary product to verify it is the definitive answer to a query. Meta descriptions should be written like a journal abstract, stating exactly what the page solves.
You can vastly improve your AEO foundation entirely behind the scenes without changing your visual design. Focus on injecting robust Product and Store Profile schema, and wrap your on-page questions in FAQPage schema to spoon-feed conversational models.
Additionally, ensure AI bots are not blocked in your robots.txt file and implement an llms.txt file to act as a streamlined directory for AI systems.
Hope this helps!
