See Sales Report by Tag or Collection

Any news regarding this feature?
Just checked the Shopify Editions 2024 and didn’t find any updates regarding that small but very useful option.

Insane this isn’t an option. Anyone find any workaround yet?

Hi there, @nickjudge ! Thanks for taking the time to follow up on this thread regarding analytics reporting and not being able to create a report for ‘Sales by Collection’. My name is Imogen. It’s good to meet you!

At this time, we have no updates to share around when a ‘Sales by Collection/Tag’ may become natively available within Shopify. With that being said, our Developers are aware of the desire for this functionality to become available, and we’re always happy to collect and pass along additional feedback around this feature request. I’ve gone ahead and shared your feedback with our developers, and flagged this thread for their awareness, so they are in the know about the continuing interest in this sort of report being made available natively within Shopify. Thanks again for taking the time to follow up and join in on the conversation!

Hi there,

Can you also filter sales by tag AND POS location name?

Thanks

Sure thing. Here’s how:

Step 1: add a product tag to any product(s) “Pants”
Step 2: in flow app set condition " start when: order created"

Step 3: check if: order > line items > product > tag = “Pants”

Step 4: do this: add order tag = “Pants”
Step 5: After orders get a “Pants” tag, make a view labeled “Pants” on your orders dash
Step 6: Export the whole orders csv and sort by “Pants” order tags or use your Pants view to export

We’re using a different variable but you can see it checks all products in orders to add a school order tag effectively. You can also make flow app check for multiple conditions as noted below.

Good Luck,

Plz see my reply above for an accepted solution.

We are also in need of a sales report by products that can be run by/with collections. This should be basic functionality especially on the Plus plan (most of the apps are way more expensive for vendors on the plus plan, I already pay more for the Shopify subscription and then I am being hit with a $300 monthly charge to get a simple report??? That’s unacceptable). Having to use apps for simple things like this is maddening. I’m forced to use an app or waste my time sorting products manually. Please add this functionality asap.

You can do it now for free with the Shopify Flow app. See my answer above and adapt it to your needs. :+1:

I did see that, but for one I would have to set up tags and the app for something that shouldn’t be more than choosing an option in a report. I am not sure if your solution would work for us either because it sounds like it’s then exporting order information and our orders often include products from different categories so I would still need to manually sort through it, even if it would likely be less? Unless I misunderstand how your solution works.

I export from the Orders dash instead of the Analytics dash, you can set it to all time or add a view filter/date range. Then pull any numbers off that csv based on your tag logic. It is extremely useful, I can pinpoint accurate sales figures down to the cent based on collection with minimal setup and even separate out shipping and tax if needed.

Flow app is pretty easy to use and they have a log for debugging.

Setting up these order Tags make it much easier to sort the data depending on how high your scale is. They also allow you to create views for quick sorting your Orders dash. However, shopify should definitely still this functionality to the analytics panel for live snapshots.

Hi to all in this thread!

I’m Denis from Mipler Reports—great to connect!

One of the most common issues we see with Shopify reporting tools is how they handle sales across multiple collections.

For example, if a single product is assigned to 10 collections and a customer buys it through just one of them, many tools will show that sale in all 10 collections.

That results in inaccurate reports and makes it hard to truly measure the performance of each collection.

But here’s the good news—we’ve fixed this.

With Mipler Reports, you’ll get precise sales data for each individual collection, with no duplicate counts.

After installing our app, your reports will reflect exactly where each sale came from—giving you a much clearer view of your store’s performance.

As a quick example:

I have a test Gift Card product listed in 3 collections (clickable):

With our solution, I can see exactly which collection generated the sale—no inflated numbers (clickable):
