See who are repeat customers in the Orders section

Hi!
Is there a way to see who are repeat customers - like a little * next to their name or something so we can see IN the orders section who are returning customers? I like to offer a free gift at certain thresholds (including repeat customers) but it’s near impossible when fulfilling orders to actually go into each order to see if they are returning or not.

There is a little something you can do that will automate the process…

In your dashboard click on customers from the left menu.

Now click on customer segments.

Click on customers that have purchased more than once.

See the little snippet of code at the top that says: number_of_orders > 1

This is just 1 example it is starting you off with to group people with 1 purchase or more.

You can change this to lots of different things like for a person that purchases over a certain amount.

See the button on the top right side that says ‘use segment’?

Click this and you will see you can send emails and even discounts when this person meets the threshold.

Dive deeper into this and you can create custom segments for so many different variations.

You could do this with a tag automation. I’d be happy to put together an automation template for you with our app mesa if you’re interested.

There isn’t currently a way to see which customers are repeat customers from within each order’s details page.

However, if your purpose for this is to offer free gifts at certain thresholds, then you’d be able to achieve that (automatically) using a Reward app (https://apps.shopify.com/search?q=rewards).

In Shopify admin, go to Analytics > Reports, then search for the “Returning customer rate over time” (or similar retention metric) > choose a date range > click on Apply.

Yes, you can tag repeat buyers for a second order automatically either with Shopify Flow tags or by using a customer segmentation app. Now show customer tags in Orders List Columns or with Filters Views. You can also add they add free gift notes automatically that you can use to ship your free gifts for qualifying orders so you can fulfill them quickly and consistently day after day.
