I recently published an Upsell and Cross-sell app on the Shopify App Store, built to help merchants maximize their revenue through smart product recommendations and cart offers.
As a newly launched app, my primary focus right now is ensuring rock-solid performance, great merchant experience, and seamless storefront integration. I am reaching out here to connect with early adopters, store owners, and partners who would be open to reviewing the workflow.
Specifically, I would appreciate feedback on:
Onboarding & Configuration: How straightforward is the setup process for non-technical store owners?
Offer Rules & Flexibility: Does the app cover the specific cross-sell logic your store requires?
Storefront Presentation: Does the design adapt cleanly to different themes?
For anyone willing to test it and share constructive feedback, I am offering full direct developer support to assist with setup and tailoring custom offer logic for your store.
Feel free to reply here or send a message if you’d like to test it out. Any feedback, critique, or suggestions would be immensely valuable.
I’d probably pay the most attention to how it actually sits inside the theme. I’ve tried apps that worked perfectly in the app settings but looked pretty awkward once they were live, especially on mobile.
The other thing I’d want to know is whether the recommendations are actually helping rather than just increasing the number of offers on the page. It’s pretty easy to add more widgets and calls to action and convince yourself you’re improving the store when you’re really just making the product page busier.
I tend to look at the whole store when testing changes like this, not just the app itself. Things like page speed, broken links, indexing issues, and the product pages being properly structured can get overlooked when you’re focused on conversion features. SiteGuru is useful for that kind of second pass because it catches the stuff outside the app that you might otherwise miss.
I would focus a lot on the real store experience, especially the cart drawer.
Many themes update the cart without reloading the page, so it is worth testing what happens when a customer:
Adds or removes a product
Changes quantity
Selects a different variant
Already has the suggested product in the cart
Uses a discount code
For onboarding, I think a good test is simple: can a merchant install the app, create one offer, add it to the theme, and see it working without reading documentation?
I would also test the app on a few different free and paid themes. Upsell apps can work perfectly on one theme but behave differently on another because of how the cart and product sections are built.
These tests will probably give you more useful feedback than testing only the app dashboard.
Thanks for sharing such detailed and practical feedback!
These edge cases around the cart drawer (AJAX updates, variant switching, and existing cart items) and cross-theme compatibility were core considerations for us right from day one.
We are currently putting the app through rigorous testing across multiple free and paid themes to ensure seamless behavior. Everything is on track, and we plan to deploy to production next week.
Really appreciate you taking the time to share these insights!
Really appreciate this perspective! It’s easy to fall into the trap of ‘more features = better,’ but you’re absolutely right—if it hurts the store’s UX or speed, it’s a net negative.
We’re prioritizing a ‘clean-first’ design approach that respects the theme’s native styling and mobile responsiveness. Thanks for the recommendation on SiteGuru as well—that’s exactly the kind of holistic auditing I need to ensure we’re adding real value to the merchant’s bottom line, not just noise to their page
Hi there @Vicky12
Since the app is fairly new, the feedback from merchants who operate different types of stores is especially helpful. I’d concentrate my testing on a small number of areas, can merchants set up offers on their own, do rules work well with typical product relationships, and does the storefront experience stay consistent across a few popular themes and mobile.
It might be useful to some extent to write/quote a few real world scenarios & implications so tester can feedback more specifically.
