Hi! I’m building a store for a new product which is a modular dog harness. The harness is built from several components which each has their own color variations and other variations. Right now 4 of the components has their own variations. The problem is that I can’t keep track of each components inventory independently if I just add them as a variant to the main product. And if I use the built in Shopify variants I also have to add inventory count to each possible combination of components/variants, which adds up to over 250 possible combinations. It’s completely illogical because I have no way of knowing in advance what combination of component variants my customers will buy. And If I add e.g. 200 available on each variant, it will be a bizarre inventory count of 50.000+ even though I just have 300 of each component.
Is there any easy app that can let me sell a modular modular product in a logical way? I’ll also be using Shopyflow to connect the store to webflow.
You might find it useful to use Easify Product Options app to create some of your options, rather than adding all of them as Shopify options and variants. Could you share more details about your product options, pricing, and how you manage inventory for them? This will help me suggest the best way to set things up with the app .
Hi @Canion we have an app called Fusion Inventory which we developed to help small makers like you track inventory of both raw materials and final products.
For your use case you can use Shopify’s built-in variant feature to create all 250+ possible combinations for the final product. The problem you will then run into is that each combination has inventory tracked separately. Fusion Inventory solves this by allowing you to:
Track the inventory of the raw materials that you use to make your product variants.
For each product variant, define which raw materials are used to make it and how many of each.
Automatically update the inventory for each affected product variant every time that an order is placed/cancelled and every time that you manually add/remove raw materials to your inventory. (e.g. when you get a new shipment of raw materials).
Since you have 250+ product variants you use our create a CSV file in Excel containing raw materials used to make all product variants and use our CSV Bulk Upload feature.
Take a look at our user guide to see how you can use the app. Let me know if you have any questions.
Noted. We’ll work on making an explainer video and a video tutorial.
Our app should work with Shopyflow since it is only used through the admin panel. As I understand, Shopyflow is used to build the customer facing website and our app doesn’t interact with the customer facing website at all.
