Yes, you can absolutely sell both physical and digital products on the same sale. You’ll need to install an app that can help you configure the digital product. Our Digital Downloads App here is a free and simple one that you can use. This app will provide a download link to your customers for their paid digital product via email, and you can also choose to provide this link at the checkout confirmation page.

So I can offer both a physical and digital option on the same product page and if they choose a digital product it will automatically send it or will I have to send it myself manually after purchase? i am interested in having ability to sell up to 5000 products and each will need to have a digital and physical option on the same product listing with automatic download if thats what they purchase.

How do we have a digital and physical variant of the same product, when reporting taxes on digital goods requires the digital product to be in a different collection?
You can’t put one variant in a different collection, so it would seem that the only way to do it is to have two separate products, not shown on the same product page.

That’s correct, at this stage you’ll need to create separate products for the physical and digital variant, as Shopify’s tax settings treat physical and digital products differently. Doing this means that you’d have two distinct product pages for your physical and digital variant, but where taxes are concerned this will then allow you to assign the appropriate tax settings to each product as needed.
You can, if it suits your business’ needs, look into creating a bundle of your two separate products to allow customers to purchase them as one. This is perhaps the best workaround currently for situations like these, but I’ll be sure to pass on your thoughts to our development team as feedback too, so that they’re aware of this current limitation.
We have both physical and digital products and we have set them up in our store. However, if someone purchases a physical product (shirt) and a digital PDFs that are to be sent to the customer immediately upon purchase. However, what happens is that they don’t receive the digital product until the physical product has shipped, which can be days later. How can we get the digital content to send instantly and the physical products continue to ship via the regular process.
