Hello Shopify community,
We’re currently working on a subscription app but were confused with some terminologies. I hope you can help us out.
-
in both Selling Plan Group and Selling Plan, we see “options” and “positions”. What exactly are they? What’s the difference between a selling plan group option and a selling plan option?
-
Subscription contract has its own delivery policy. There’s a “Line Count” as one of the fields which represents a subscription line, correct? A subscription line has its own pricing and product and variants. Does this mean a subscription contract can have various products with only one delivery policy?
Thank you for clearing it up.
Best regards,
Sep

If you’re already familiar with how options and positions work on the Product and Variant model, they act in a similar fashion. The purpose of these fields is to enable different displays on the online store. It’s better described via our tutorials here: https://shopify.dev/themes/pricing-payments/subscriptions/selling-plans#show-available-selling-plans-on-the-product-page

That’s correct. A subscription contract only has a single delivery policy. It can have multiple subscription lines that each have their merchandise and pricing attached to it.
Hope that helps
