Hello,
I have a really basic question, i am new with Shopify. I am selling tickets for tufting workshop. My orders are for now “unfulfilled”. Do i need to click on fulfill, what is the impact ? This product does not require any shipping.
Thanks for your help,
AtelierAVA
If it doesn’t require shipping then you can probably just fulfill them. I would do a test order first so you can see for yourself what the customer sees, because you likely have a fulfillment notification hooked up (though you can select to not send that notification when you go to fulfill the line item).
If you want to automatically fulfill those, you can do that in Settings > Checkout > Order processing if you want all line items fulfilled. If you want more control on which line items get auto fulfilled, you can do that through Shopify Flow if you have it, or Order Automator app.
In general, any time you’re unsure of what a process does, create a test order to yourself so you can analyze what the customer experience will be like. I recommend doing this anyway once a quarter at least, because as your store evolves, you’ll get more apps, things will be edited, etc, and you might not realize the customer experience is not as you want (have seen this many times in my career)… but also, it’s a good exercise to generate ideas on how you can make the customer experience better (like offering related products, discounts on next product etc), as you shop online you may get new ideas, that trigger when you test on your own store.
