hello, how i could i make my SEO generate more traffic to my website?
i would like to know the tips, as i believe shopify does SEO for us automatically with the use of the title we keep on each product. BUT what and how could we do it better and what works best?
Hi @sarf
Ah, let me help you out with this!
Shopify handles the technical basics, but it does not do the marketing work for you. Relying only on product titles is insufficient because customers often search for broad categories or solutions, not specific item names. You must actively optimize your content to rank higher.
Focus first on your Collection pages. These are your most powerful assets for capturing traffic. Add unique descriptions to the bottom of each category page using broad keywords like leather travel bags. This helps you rank for the general terms people use when they are just starting to shop.
Next, use a blog to catch customers earlier in their journey. Write articles that answer common questions related to your niche. This targets informational searches and brings people to your site who might not have found you otherwise.
Finally, you need backlinks. Google treats links from other sites as votes of confidence. Reach out to bloggers or industry guides to get featured. Without these external signals, even a perfectly optimized store will struggle to compete against established brands.
Hope this helps!
I’d recommend you to start by building a backlink profile early since even today they are basically the key ranking factor, even though Google says they play a lesser role. For that, SEO softwares like Ahrefs or Keupera are pretty good. With Ahrefs you can see the Backlinks of others and with Keupera you can see where you can get backlinks yourself.
They also got some great tools that are free to start with:

Of course there are a lot more tools and resources out there, but those I use myself ![]()
