Problem: I publish blog + product content consistently, but only a small portion is indexed in Google Search Console. I also see external links from Pinterest/Reddit/Medium drop over time.

Questions:

  1. How should I structure internal links between blog → collection → product for Shopify?

  2. What causes external link decay and how can I stabilize authority?

  3. How do I know if my content is considered “thin” by Google?

  4. What Shopify-specific SEO mistakes could be blocking indexation?

  5. What should my next 30 days of SEO focus on if my DR is under 10?

Problem: In my country, reading blogs / using google as main search engine, is not as useful. Most answers bring information about the US or México, since we are not that big on content creation.
Q.

  1. What would be a good strategy to optimize for SEO?
  2. Should we focus on SEO?
  3. Since blogs aren’t as popular, what other options would you recommend?
  4. How can I measure and compare with local business/results?

Hi @Modernhomekitchen

This is quite a lot so let me go over each question point by point:

  1. You should follow a “Funnel” strategy that guides authority from your high-traffic content down to your money pages. Top would be your Blog Posts. These attract broad traffic. Link from blog posts to relevant Collection pages using descriptive anchor text. Middle would be your Collection Pages.Link from the Collection description to your best-selling or high-margin. The bottom would be your Product page. Use “Related Products” sections to link horizontally to other products, and use Breadcrumbs to link back up to the Collection.

  2. Normally these platforms often archive old content, users delete their posts, or the platform updates its layout (like Pinterest hiding links behind “Visit” buttons). top You do not have have to rely on social bookmarks for authority. Focus on earning Editorial Backlinks

  3. Google considers content “thin” if it provides no unique value compared to the thousands of other pages on the web. The easiest way to notice this is in your Google Search Console. Look in Google Search Console under Pages > Crawled - currently not indexed. If you see many pages here, Google has likely deemed them too low-quality to waste storage space on.

  4. There are 2 common ones: Tags and Canonical Confusion.

  5. This would go something like:

  • Technical Pruning. Go into Shopify and noindex your Tag pages, Vendor collections, and Archive pages. This stops Google from wasting time on junk URLs.
  • Content Consolidation. Identify your top 5 blog posts. Read them. If they are short news updates, delete them and redirect them to a single “Guide” page. Make fewer, stronger pages.
  • Collection Descriptions. Write unique, 300-word descriptions for your top 3 Collection pages. Place this text at the bottom of the page so it does not push products down.
  • The “Real” Link. Do not post on social media. Instead, find 5 small interior design blogs and email them offering to write a free guest article.

Hope this helps!

Hi @rochoa08

Let me answer this for you:

  1. Your strategy must switch from generic information to specific availability. Since you cannot beat international sites on general tech reviews, you must win on logistics. Add the word “Guatemala” or “Entrega inmediata” to your product titles and meta descriptions.

  2. Yes, but focus specifically on Local SEO. The most important step you can take is to claim a Google Business Profile. Getting into the “Map Pack” puts you physically above the text results from Mexican or US websites.

  3. Since your market prefers visual and direct engagement, focus on TikTok and Instagram Reels. Use short videos to prove you have the stock on hand, addressing the pain point of waiting for international shipping.

  4. You must filter out the noise from global traffic. Go to Google Search Console, navigate to Performance, and apply a Country Filter for “Guatemala.” This is the only data that matters. It will show you the exact keywords locals are using to find you and how you rank against actual local competitors, rather than irrelevant international giants.

Hope this helps!
