SEO question - search engine results

Dear community,

I would like to ask for your assistance with an issue. My website (www.romaniandrinks.co.uk) is fairly in a good SEO position as we don’t have (much) competition and any product search gets us in the first 3 search engine results. But I have two products that I’m aware that for some reason are not appearing at all in the search results although they are set-up in the exact way as the others.

Could somebody have a look at let me know what could be potentially wrong?

Here’s a link to the respective two products:

Thank you.

Since your other products rank fine, the issue is likely specific to these two pages.

First thing to check: search Google for site:romaniandrinks.co.uk carassia and see if those product pages show up at all. If they don’t, Google hasn’t indexed them yet, which is a different problem than ranking poorly.

If they’re not indexed, go to Google Search Console, paste each product URL into the URL Inspection tool, and hit Request Indexing. Shopify puts product pages in the sitemap automatically, but Google doesn’t always pick them up quickly.

One thing I notice is both products are very similar. Same brand, same type, nearly identical descriptions. Google sometimes treats pages like that as near-duplicates and only indexes one. Worth making each page more distinct with unique content. Tasting notes, food pairings, what makes the Blanc de Blancs different from the Classic. Even a few extra sentences helps Google understand these are separate products worth showing.

Also check whether these products are linked from your homepage or main collection pages. Pages that are only reachable by direct URL or deep navigation get crawled less often.

How long ago did you add these two?

Hello @lumine ,

Appreciate the response.

I’ve done what you’ve suggested in your first paragraph and here are the results.

I will look into making some changes to the product description - thanks for that.

Products are linked from main collection pages and they have up and running for a few months. Initially I got some direct traffic and sales but afterwards it stopped and that’s when I knew there was something wrong.

Hit reply before adding this: looking at the product descriptions, they are quite different so not sure why search engines would consider them the same product

It’s great to hear your overall SEO is doing so well! Since most of your products are ranking high, this is likely a small technical glitch or a crawling delay for these two specific links.

The first thing I’d recommend is checking your Google Search Console . Use the “URL Inspection” tool at the top and paste those two links in. It will tell you exactly if Google has found the pages yet, or if there’s a technical error like an accidental “noindex” tag blocking them. If Google hasn’t seen them yet, you can simply click “Request Indexing” right there to give them a nudge.

Another thing to check is if these products are clearly linked within your collections or on your homepage. Sometimes if a product is “buried” too deep in the site structure, Google’s bots take much longer to find it. Also, double-check that the descriptions aren’t too identical to other products, if they look like duplicates, Google might only choose to show one of them. A quick manual request in Search Console usually fixes this!

Hi Romanic Drinks,

  1. Title Tag is too long (77 chars, recommended: 30-60)
  2. Text-to-HTML ratio is very low: 2.9% (minimum 10% recommended)
  3. Content reading level is at a grade 12.5 level — may be difficult for a general audience (reduce the complexity or verbiage used in your content to grade 12 or below recommended)
  4. Keyword Stuffing Detected - Very high keyword density (18 occurances)
  5. Render-blocking scripts in the <head> which slows down page rendering because the browser **must download, parse, and then execute them before it can continue showing the page. Render-blocking resources: they’re the critical files that delay your page content appearing and can increase Core Web Vitals metrics like the Largest Contentful Paint. *Solution: minimize the JavaScript and CSS.

Hi @MAndreiD. You claim they are set up exactly the same, but if Google is ignoring them while ranking your other pages, that assumption is likely false.

Here are the specific areas you need to check:

  • Google Search Console: Stop guessing and look at the actual data. Put the exact URLs of those two specific wines into the URL Inspection tool in GSC. It will tell you precisely why they are not indexed. If it says “URL is not on Google,” hit “Request Indexing.” If it throws an error (e.g., “Duplicate, Google chose different canonical than user”), you have your answer.
  • Crawl Delay: If you published these items recently, Google simply hasn’t crawled them yet. High rankings on other pages do not guarantee instant indexing for new ones.

Inspect the URLs in GSC first; that is the only way to get a definitive answer instead of relying on assumptions.

Additionally, it’s unfortunate to have to say that your product page structure isn’t very good. Your product should appear right in the first frame instead of a Flash Sale banner or review banner, these two should be in the product description section.

Google typically crawls content from top to bottom. If they see your product pages have too much duplicate content at the top, they tend to skip it and consider it unworthy of indexing.

Hope this helps

Hi @MAndreiD ,
Your two pages have already appeared in Google search results.

However, I have another perspective. You mentioned that sales of these two products have stagnated. I searched your product name “Carastelec Carassia Blanc de Blancs Sparkling Wine” directly on Google, and it ranked on the second page. This indicates that keyword traffic has been captured by competitors.

So you can try what I did: find your competitors and analyze how they rank higher than you.

You can also focus on your website’s SEO ranking: website speed, internal and external link building, and visibility in AI search, as many people now use AI search to recommend products.

You can also improve the retention of your existing organic traffic: the aesthetics of your page design, the reading experience, the smoothness of the order process, and your brand introduction, etc.

Good news your product is already on google search results , it’s been a month so it’s very likely that the issue is fixed but if this happened again :

  1. put your product into GSC to find if it’s being indexed
  2. if it’s indexed look if it’s bringing impressions
  3. if not then a good thing would be to internal link your collections to the product (using the keyword you want to rank for)
  4. also check for cannibalisation

if those two products are set up identically to your others but not appearing in search results, there are a few specific things to check. first, go to Google Search Console > URL Inspection and paste the product URLs directly. it’ll tell you if they’re indexed, crawled, or if there’s an issue like “discovered but not currently indexed.”

another common cause is duplicate content. if those product descriptions are very similar to other products on your site (or worse, identical to descriptions on other sites), Google might be filtering them out. also check if those specific pages have a noindex tag accidentally set, some themes and apps add these without you knowing. lastly, make sure those products are linked from at least one collection page because orphan pages (no internal links pointing to them) are way harder for Google to find.

First check Google Search Console URL Inspection for each product. It’ll tell you if the page is even indexed.

If it’s not indexed, check for noindex tags, thin content, or missing internal links.

If it is indexed but not showing up, check if another page on your site (like the category page) is competing for the same keywords. Google might be showing the wrong page.

Compare the working products against the broken ones. Look at title tags, meta descriptions, description length, and image alt text. Something is different. You just haven’t found it yet.

Post what the URL Inspection says and that’ll narrow it down.

Hello all,

First of all, thank you for all your replies.

Yesterday I just asked in Google Search Console to inspect the 3 URLs of the 3 products and none of them had any information in the URL Inspection section.

This morning I went back and found this:

Not sure why Google believes this is a duplicate page. URLs are different between the 3 products and the description is different.

I use Shopify to publish these products so there’s nothing technically that I’ve done differently compared to the other 500 products I’ve published and there’s not a lot that you can do front-end wise in Shopify to suggest that these pages are technically different.

Also an update when searching the 3 products. Initially only one was showing in the top search results (2 were not). Now 2 products are showing up and the third (Carassia Blanc de Blanc) is not.

What is your Carassia Blanc de Blanc URL?:heart_hands:

I checked this for you.

A Google search for “Carastelec Carassia Blanc de Blancs Sparkling Wine” showed the following URL: Carastelec Carassia Blanc de Blancs Romanian Sparkling Wine – Romanian Drinks

These two pages have different URL characters, indicating they are duplicate pages because clicking on them leads to the same product.

Google Search Console updates may not be that frequent. You should actually pay more attention to other serious issues and organic website traffic reported in the Google Search Console report.

What is the part of the URL at the end that you’ve highlighted? Why does that show up?

Look at what it sees as the canonical:

I put this into my address bar, and it redirected me to the product page in question. So you have a redirect on this page?

What this tells me is Google is seeing the redirected page (url) as the indexed page. A quick Google search confirms this:

I just added the redirect about 10 minutes ago.

Yeah I would hold off on the redirects. First confirm whether or not this url did in fact exist. Whether you deleted it or changed it. Google says it exists. And it’s indexed. So first copy that url and paste in the url inspection tool.

This is what the URL inspection tool shows

The new URL, which I’ve asked both yesterday and today for Google to crawl is: Carastelec Carassia Blanc de Blancs Romanian Sparkling Wine – Romanian Drinks
