Good question. The broad strokes are the same in the sense that the search engines care about a lot of the same things. However, the platforms have different ways of doing things. Our SEO expert Christina has this to say about Shopify SEO:
“Your best bet for ensuring D2C success is to have your products well optimized. Shopify already has built-in tools to make your products appear organically in Google Shopping’s tab, but the best way to ensure success here is to optimize your product titles, URLs, and descriptions. Having descriptive images (that includes alt text) goes a long way as well. You’ll want to make sure you have Google Merchant Center setup as well so you can see how your products perform in organic shopping so you can make changes as needed.”
