Separation of Create and edit permissions under Drafts permissions

Hello,

We are suggesting that Shopify offer the ability to separate Create and edit permissions under Shopify draft orders.

We keep meticulous track of our Draft order numbers as part of our standard controls (auditing) and unfortunately one of our staff members has a habit of duplicating orders. Sometimes it is difficult to train older employees on newer technology.

Also, from a separation of duties perspective, it may be helpful for other store owners as well for certain circumstances to be able to edit orders but not create orders.

I can understand the concept that employees who create should also be able to edit, but we would like to restrict duplicates.

Hi there,

I see in your screenshot where Create and Edit are tied together under Draft permissions. I agree it would be really useful if Shopify separated these, so staff could edit existing drafts without also being able to create or duplicate new ones. For stores with strict auditing or compliance processes, that kind of control would prevent the issue you mentioned with duplicate orders.

Right now it isn’t possible to split them, but this is a solid feature request and I can see it benefiting a lot of merchants who need tighter staff permissions.
