Hi, @VNellas . I’m happy to look into this with you! I just have a few questions to make sure I fully understand what’s happening on your end. I want to make sure I give you helpful advice going forward.

  • Can you walk me through how you’re creating product variants? Are you following the steps explained in this guide?
  • Are you creating entirely new variants and options for this product or are you updating a product that already has variants and options created?
  • Is this happening with every product you have or is this only happening for this one product shown in the screenshot you shared?
  • How many variants are you trying to add?

There are a few different issues that can cause this error so once I have more information I can definitely suggest more. Please let me know if you have any questions in the meantime!

I am having the same problem with subtracting variants and adding new ones. I restarted the program and cleared the cache on my laptop. I have been doing this same thing for 6 weeks with no trouble.

Hi, @brendabaum . Are you seeing this error after removing variants or adding new ones? When did you first notice this error? Can you also walk me through the steps you’re taking to edit your variants?

This error often happens when the variant that you’re trying to input already exists in the product, so the system is rejecting a duplicate entry. That being said, if you’re going through the same steps to edit your variants as you’ve done before, I recommend speaking with our support team here so that we can look into this with you. We aren’t able to see any account settings here over the Shopify Community, but if you speak with us through the link I shared we would be able to troubleshoot this with you in more detail.

I’m still happy to help here as much as I can, so don’t hestitate to reply with more context or any questions you have!

I see the server error whenever I attempt to add color variants AND whenever I attempt to remove color variants. Ive done this exactly the same way for 6 weeks on our Shopify program. It began yesterday in the AM and Im still unable to add or subtract color variants. I am not adding duplicate variants. I am taking some variants out and adding new ones.

I click on the Add Variants button. Then I add each color as we need. Then I save by clicking the save button. A pop up comes up and I click on save. I then get the server error.

Hi, @brendabaum and @imehwishupwork . I appreciate you sharing all of that context.

Since we can’t see your settings here over the Shopify Community it’s hard to say why this is happening. I’m not seeing any reports of this being a known issue at the moment, but I do want to ensure we look into this with you to help you get it working correctly. If you haven’t yet, please reach out to our support team here. If you reach out to us through that page I shared, we would be able to test this out with you and troubleshoot this much more.

Please let me know if you have any questions or trouble getting in touch with us.

Currently experiencing the same exact issue as of a few weeks ago. I can create variants without issue, but cannot delete any without encountering a “server error” popup which then does not allow me to save without refreshing the page.

UPDATED - Issue was fixed by changing permissions for my account. At some point in the last 2-3 weeks, permissions were changed without our knowledge.

Yes, I asked Shopify support and it was related to permissions.
