Set it and forget it: how AltMaster keeps your alt text updated as your catalog grows

If you add new products regularly, you already know the problem - alt text gets added once, then forgotten the moment your catalog grows. Every new upload becomes another gap.

I built AltMaster to fix this for good. It bulk updates alt text across your entire existing catalog, and automatically detects every new product you add - applying alt text right away, with zero manual work.

So instead of remembering to do it every time you upload, it just… happens. Set it up once, and your store stays fully covered as it scales.

This is especially useful for stores adding products weekly or running frequent drops, where manual upkeep just isn’t realistic.

I’m currently looking for merchants to try it out and give me honest feedback - good or bad. If this sounds like your store, I’d love for you to test it and let me know how it goes.

Hi, I’m Megs. I am just about to go live with my store Megs Chaos & Magic Co. (megschaosandmagicco.com) as soon as I get the rest of my product loaded in and page fixed. So, within the next day or two, I’ll be live. This is something I’ve been stressed about most and I’d love the opportunity to try it out for you! Just let me know if you’d be interested or willing to let me help you out and I’ll be watching out for you.

Thank you for the consideration!

Hey Megs, congrats on getting this close, launching is always the scariest part! Took a proper look through the store while it’s still in progress, here’s my honest take.

Right now, every single product is showing as sold out, which, for a brand-new store, is rough because anyone landing on it has literally nothing to buy. I know you mentioned you’re still loading products in, so just make sure, before you flip it live, that everything is actually in stock and purchasable, people will bounce in seconds.

The product mix also feels a bit disconnected from the “Chaos & Magic” name and the whimsical, cozy vibe you’re going for. Right now, it’s wireless chargers, dentures, pet combs - pretty generic dropshipping type products that don’t really tell a story or build a brand identity. If the magic and storytelling angle is your hook, it’d help a lot to have the products and the collections reflect that more clearly; the name and the catalog feel like two different stores.

Small thing, but worth fixing - the country and region selector dropdown is massive and takes up a lot of visual space on the homepage. Most stores tuck that away in the footer or header as a small menu rather than showing the entire list expanded.

And once your products are fully loaded in, make sure every image has alt text added before launch. It’s easy to miss in the rush of getting everything live, but it’s what helps search engines actually understand and surface your products once people start searching. Easier to set this up from day one than to go back and fix a whole catalog later. If you don’t want to add it manually one by one, there’s a free app called AltMaster on the Shopify App Store that handles it in bulk and automatically covers new products as you upload them, so it’s just one less thing to think about while you’re getting everything else sorted.

Once it’s live, drop the link again, and happy to take another look! Good luck with the launch
