I spent the better part of 2 hours on chat with Shopify support trying to figure out how to charge federal taxes on any and all products. There is no solution that they could come up with other than to seek assistance from a tax professional in regards to adjusting the prices of the items to reflect a charge of Excise Tax. Unfortunately doing that would increase the overall tax liability that would be taxed. Essentially making it a double tax.
I am pointing this out in hopes that SHOPIFY can make an option to select and “additional, custom tax rate” option to the taxes menu. I am certain that other e-commerce sites make this accommodation… Taxes are hard enough as it is, lets make it seamless as possible on our end! Thanks.
