Setting up payments for NRA - while selling in the US

Hello

I am setting up my Shopify business where i will sell in the US while i live in Norway. I am struggling when it comes to setting up shopify payment, as i do not have a SSN. How can i use shopify payment without a SSN? I also tried to set up Stripe, but that requires a US address and phone number. Is there really no way for Europeans to sell in the US?

I have tried costumer support, articles, facebook groups etc with no luck. Please help, and thank you!

Hi, @PlsHelp . The payment provider you are using doesn’t impact which countries you can sell to. If you are eligible to use Shopify Payments in your region, you can sell to whichever countries you’d like to. If you’re not eligible to use Shopify Payments in your region, you can still sell to whichever countries you’d like to by using a third party payment provider.

It sounds like you are trying to set up Shopify Payments US without living in the US. It is not possible to do this unless you can verify the following information:

  • Business Registration documents specific to the US, displaying your legally registered business name, Business registration number, and Business Address.
  • Valid Photo ID for your account representative and any other owners who are not native to the US. Passports are strongly preferred.
  • Evidence of physical business operations taking place within the US. Examples might include a storefront, a rented or owned warehouse for shipping orders, one of the beneficial owners lives there, etc.

If you aren’t able to verify this information, and Shopify Payments isn’t available in your region, you would need to use a third payment provider to accept payments.
