Setting up shipping & Custom Shipping

Hello everyone, facing a shipping issue for combined shipping . We have setup a shipping profiles for certain products ( antiques ) and certain items needs to have a custom shipping packing quote before purchase because it will need a custom crating solution . We have other products that are in our regular shipping profile that can be shipped regular with FedEx , UPS, etc . So the issue is that when a buyer adds products in the cart and for example Item #1 needs custom shipping and the other items #2 and #3 are for regular shipping with FedEx, UPS , etc . Shopify automatically does not calculate shipping for Item #2 and Item #3 and does not show shipping for the regular items that can be shipped with FedEx ups etc and Item #1 is available for purchase without any custom shipping quotes and can be purchased immediately and shopify automatically calculates free shipping for all the items . Which this is a major bug issue in their system . Does anyone have any kind of solution for this?

#1. I was already able to submit a feature request to our Development Team so that this functionality can be worked on. At Shopify, we value the ongoing progress and advancement of our platform, and we rely on feedback and input from merchants like yourself to achieve this objective.
In the meantime though, if we have any updates to share on this feature request, we’ll post more information on our Announcements page, as well as our changelog, so please keep an eye out there.

I’ve checked on the screenshot you sent and I highly recommend for you to double check the product within your shipping profiles. The product you highlighted is included on the heavy large items

I would also like to acknowledge the details you provided above. And I must agree that, the options that we have right now might cause conflicts on the shipping rates especially in the event that you have products added together from different shipping profiles. This goes back to our main concern where in you would like to set an option for custom shipping quotation which is a current platform limitation. No worries, I already added this details as I also send updates to the shipping team. In the meantime we’ll continue to followup on the feature request with the development team for them to study this functionality to be available in the future.

I am sorry to see that you have issues with your shipping rates. I fully don’t get what you meant by “certain items needs to have a custom shipping packing quote before purchase”. Can customers checkout these items without contacting you for a quote? Normally, Shopify adds rates from different shipping profiles.
