Setup individual inventory tracking on product that has A+B=Product

First and foremost, I apologize if this is in the wrong place and listed incorrectly. I set out this year to learn how to be more tech savvy and it’s kicking my butt.

In my Shopify store I have a product that consists of part 1 + part 2 = the product. You have to buy both part 1 and 2. I do not want to sell these products individually.

Part 1 has 7 colors

Part 2 has 14 shapes

So, the customer has 98 options total.

I know how to setup and use variants, but here is my problem. I can’t track inventory this way because I only have a limited quantity of part 1 and part 2 that I use to make all the possible variations. I need to set this up in a way so that if I am out of a color of Part 1, you can’t add any combination with part 2. Or vice-verse, If I am out of a shape of part 2, Any combination with part 1 shows out of stock.

See my example because I feel like I am not explaining this clear enough.

Part 1: A B C

Part 2: X Y Z

Products available: AX AY AZ BX BY BZ CX CY CZ

If I sell out of Part 2 X, the new available products become

AY AZ BY BZ CY CZ

ADDITIONALLY

How do I add an option to purchase an additional Part 2 with the purchase of the product for an additional cost.

So, a possible outcome could be AZ + Y for $$+$

Hi @CoryA I believe this is what you’re looking for:

1. If you only want to set up : “out of a color of Part 1, can’t add any combination with part 2, and vice versa”

=> Use Shopify Bundles app (FREE) to set up your bundle containing part 1 & part 2 product

=> If you don’t want customers to buy individually part 1 & part 2, simply change their status to draft → then customers can’t search or buy it individually while still can buy in a combination.

2. If you want to do both: “out of a color of Part 1, can’t add any combination with part 2, and vice versa” and also “purchase an additional Part 2 with the purchase of the product for an additional cost”

=> Step 1: Use Shopify Bundles app (FREE).

=> Step 2: Use BOGOS app > Create Frequently Bought Together offer. Here’s set up steps:

=> This way, you have to remain products’ status as “active” (not draft). Therefore, if you don’t want customers to buy individually part 1 & part 2 to buy, here’s 2 steps:

• Hide part 1 and part 2 product from search (remain it’s status as active). Here’s how.
• on the FBT widget, when clicking on the part 2 product’s title, customers can be redirected to part 2 product page → to unenable this, simply contact our customer support team and we’ll do some small customizations for you!
