Several complaints and Shopify... ? Doesn't even respond!

My store is called novagadgets.us, and there is a store with a similar name called novagadgets.net that is a scam.

EVERY DAY I receive several complaints on my website, saying that we have scammed them, that we don’t respond to emails, that we will check the receipts, and that it comes from the novagadgets.net store. We have a lot of work every day responding to customers and recommending the address Report an issue - Shopify . We have also reported it several times, but ABSOLUTELY NOTHING happens. We haven’t even received a response from Shopify. This has been going on for months. Does Shopify really value maintaining legitimate stores, or do they support scam stores? I AM WAITING FOR A RESPONSE. We can no longer have our store’s name tarnished. We work hard to meet deadlines and serve our customers in the best way possible. We have several screenshots of complaints and receipts from the other store if necessary. We are asking for help!

Hello there.

Shopify is more automated now with AI chatbot. No real help unless it’s an account issue and even then it looks like it takes a long time to resolve.

I checked out your site and the other site. It seems “legitimate” is a fairly loose term these days. I personally don’t understand why Shopify allows scammers. It’s clear that it’s anything but legitimate. On the other hand… It does have an actual address. It may be a house in Arizona, but at least they’re not trying to hide it.

The other site though, is that yours? Contact info says 5th Ave in NYC (Starbucks) but when checked against the domain registrant, it comes up as Brazil lol.

I think the word legitimate has vastly different meanings depending on who is using it.

We’ve had this happen twice. Go to ICANN Lookup to look up the registry and try contacting the domain. It is on Cloudflare which are not fast to respond. You can also contact google and other search engines, so the site doesn’t pop up. Verify your company on social media as we had one duplicating our ads on FB and a person clicked on it. Trademark your logo and make sure social media platforms know it so unverified accounts cannot use it.

There are companies that will charge $8500 or more to always scan to look for these things. We paid it for one year when we had 2 within a month. After that we just pay an annual fee to only remove up to 3 sites with the option to purchase more if needed, they will no longer search.

Good luck!

Oh, and are you sure the site is hosted on Shopify? Only asking because we had a spoof site using .shop and Shopify isn’t the only e-comm that uses .shop.

One other suggestion is to purchase additional domains since they are cheap. You need to purchase the .org, .net (might be too late or have to wait until it shuts down), and the singular version of your site (gadget) with all the .org, .net, .com, dot whatever.
