Several pages are duplicated

Topic summary

A user is experiencing an issue where multiple pages appear as duplicates in their Shopify store. When attempting to edit or delete one duplicate, all related pages are affected simultaneously.

Attempted Solution:
The user tried following an older community post about handling duplicate pages, but the instructions are outdated due to Shopify platform updates.

Response Provided:
A community member offered updated step-by-step guidance for creating page templates in the current Shopify interface:

  • Navigate to Online Store > Themes > Customize
  • Use the dropdown menu at the top-middle (with house icon) to access template options
  • Create new page templates that can be assigned to specific pages
  • This approach allows different pages to use distinct templates, potentially resolving the duplication issue

Note: The response includes screenshots showing the Theme customizer interface, though portions of both the original question and answer appear to contain reversed/garbled text, suggesting possible encoding issues in the original thread.

I’m having duplicate pages when I try to edit/delete it deletes the other pages as well. I followed this link, but seems Shopify updated and it does not allow me to follow these steps because it does not allow me to create a template.

This is the link I viewed: Several pages are duplicated - Shopify Community

This no longer works.

Hi David,

The way to create templates nowadays is similar to the past community post you’ve linked and that is:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes

  2. Find the theme that you want to edit, and then click Customize.

  3. In your Theme customizer, there is a dropdown located at the middle-top with an icon (it’s a house icon when you’re ‘editing’ the homepage), just like so:

Click this dropdown.

  1. From here, you can create templates for product pages, collection pages, and the like. Since we want to create a new template for “Pages”, click on “Pages”
  2. Then from here, you can create a page template you can use for the pages you desire.

  1. After creating the new template, you can then assign it to the pages where you want to use it - in the admin page.

Hope this helps! If you have any questions, feel free to let me know.
