Severe Mercadopago integration issues (Colombia)

Hi, hope you anybody help me as I’m getting a bit desperate. Though Mercadopago is a certified Shopify Payment provider, they have severe integration issues with the most used payment method of bank transfers (PSE) in Colombia:

  1. Mercadopago sends customers with approved payments to the Home Page instead of the Thank You page, hence it is not being registered as a conversion in GA, FB. This is making any social media marketing and/or steering based on analytics impossible.

  2. Also, for orders using bank transfers, Mercadopago sends a confirmation message back to Shopify BEFORE the payment process has started, which triggers a confirmation email. For failed transactions a cancellation email is then sent. This is screwing up all Shopify reports and is confusing for our clients.

I’ve been talking with Mercadopago support for weeks until they acknowledged the issue…and informed me they will NOT fix the issue. Can you imagine??

My last hope: can you please put pressure from Shopify on Mercadopago to fix these core issues? For me, this integration cannot be certified / offered to Shopify members.

(if you ask me while I’m still with Mercadopago…the only other provider offering PSE bank transfers is PayU, who admitted that the integration with Shopify is ‘unstable’ after I questioned the big load of abandoned checkouts).

Hey there - did you ever get this resolved? I’m starting a new build for a Colombia site and my client has asked for Mercado Pago for credit cards and also for PSE. Did this end up working for you?

I do not recommend mercadopago integration at all - for various reasons mentioned from the op above + their integration is full of fundamental issues, the checkout takes you out of shopify and then back in (if successful) which creates tons of friction and ends up being just more and more abandoned carts. It’s simply a nightmare and Shopify should strip them from a certified status. Stay away!
