Shipping Carrier Display Issue

I placed a test order to check the shopify confirmation and delivery emails, and I received the shipping confirmation email. I created it using Klaviyo, which pulls the carrier and tracking number which is USPS in my case and it shows the tracking number. Under “carrier,” it shows as “other” instead of USPS. On the Shopify dashboard, when I click on the order and select “edit tracking” (where the three dots are), the tracking number is from USPS, but the shipping carrier shows as “other” instead of USPS. Is there a way to fix this?

Shipping confirmation email that is sent to customers down below

Hi @CelestialNova ,
The Other label is coming from Shopify. To fix it, go into the order → Edit Tracking→ re-enter the tracking number and select USPS from the carrier dropdown (instead of Other). Once Shopify recognizes USPS, Klaviyo will automatically show USPS in your emails.

Thanks

Ok, when doing that do I tick the box that says ‘Send notification email to customer’ or leave it unticked. Will that keep happening as I get actual orders from customers is there a way to let shopify know that’s its from USPS?

Hi @CelestialNova ,
You can leave the Send notification email to customer box unticked while you’re fixing test orders ,this way, customers don’t get duplicate or unnecessary emails.

If you find my recommendations helpful, a like would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks & Regards

Ah yes, this happens when the carrier isn’t selected from Shopify’s predefined list, so it just defaults to “Other” in emails and some integrations like Klaviyo. Even if your tracking URL is from USPS, if you manually choose “Other” instead of selecting “USPS” from the dropdown in the Edit Tracking section, Shopify won’t recognise it as USPS. You may

  • Go back to your order in the Shopify admin

  • Click the three dots (…) next to the fulfillment > Edit tracking

  • In the Shipping carrier dropdown, choose “USPS” instead of “Other”

  • Save changes

That should ensure “USPS” shows up in the confirmation emails and is passed correctly to Klaviyo or other systems.

Hope this helps a bit! If it does, feel free to mark it as a solution so others can find it too

Will that keep on happening when I start getting orders from customers. How can I make it use USPS since that’s the shipping carrier I am using in cjdropshipping?

Yeah, if CJdropshipping keeps pushing tracking info the same way, it’ll probably keep showing up as “Other” unless they’re passing the carrier name correctly to Shopify. Shopify needs it to say “USPS” in a specific format to display it right, otherwise it just defaults to “Other”

You can try messaging CJ’s support and ask if they can set USPS as the default carrier when fulfilling your orders, sometimes it’s just a setting on their end. If they can’t do that, the only workaround is to manually change the carrier to USPS in Shopify each time (which is a bit of a pain, honestly).

Alternatively, you could check out other apps, I recommend ParcelPanel, it helps manage tracking and gives you more flexibility with how carrier info shows up to customers
