Hi,
We have been using the insurance built into Shopify (Shipsurance) on all of our packages. I just summited our first claim today and it was denied due to us using custom branded tape. They said it alluded to the contents inside. I know lots of companies are using custom tape so what are people doing about this? Is there an insurance company that allows for custom tape to be used? Or are you accepting the loss when an item is damaged? We certainly do not want to stop using our tape if possible.
Thank you!
I just had my first encounter with Shipsurance, and it wasn’t good. I have insured 400-500 packages through them, and had to make my first claim. They denied it because the customer didn’t have the original packaging intact for photos. They also wanted to see the packaging materials, so I offered to show them how I packaged the other 17 book that I sent that day that all arrived fine, but that wasn’t good enough. I feel like Shipsurance makes it borderline impossible to make an actual claim. I will be accepting the risk for now on, because what I’ve paid them over 2 years is WAY more than I was asking for on this claim. Insurance often feels like a scam to me, and I ship about 100 packages each week.
Wow that is crazy! We created an appthat allows you to offer a delivery guarantee to your customer no matter what carrier you use. You collect the money for this guarantee upsell and if something goes wrong you pay out the issue. Basically, you become self-sustaining and never have to fight with insurance companies or carriers for a refund. As a bonus you also increase your AOV by 2.5% on average
Yes, insurance does feel like a scam sometimes. That is why we created an app that allows you to offer your own guarantee to customers so you never have to deal with insurance companies
