Shipping Label SKU / Item Description & Order Number

Topic summary

A user requests adding SKU, item description, and order numbers directly onto shipping labels to streamline order fulfillment and reduce shipping errors. They argue this would eliminate the need for packing slips, which they view as wasteful and time-consuming to match with orders.

Additional requests include:

  • Implementing native shipping insurance or using carrier insurance
  • Avoiding ParcelGuard integration specifically
  • Appreciation noted for the recent ability to customize return shipping names

Another participant questions the practicality of this approach, suggesting packing slips (which are already fully customizable) combined with order numbers on labels provide an effective solution. The original poster maintains their preference for label-only information to avoid extra paper and matching steps.

The discussion remains open with no resolution on whether this feature will be implemented.

New Feature Request. Please add a way to capture the Item Sku, Description, and order #’s onto the shipping label.

This allows the item to be matched up with the buyer efficiently and allows sellers to avoid shipping errors less frequently.

Also, if possible, add your own shipping insurance or use the carrier’s insurance. Please avoid implementing ParcelGuard (←– This is the reason I would like to leave Shipstation )

By the way, thank you for adding the option to change the return shipping name to something other than the domain!

Shipping Label SKU / Item Description & Order Number Shopify

You sure you mean shipping label instead of packing slip? It would make no sense to have all that information on a shipping label. The packing slip template, though, is fully customizable, and combined with the order number on the shipping label, it’s really easy to match items with customers.

Definitely the shipping label, packaging slips are a waste of paper, and just one more thing to match up. No time for that
