Issue: Weight-based shipping rates appear for single-item carts but disappear when multiple items are added, even though the combined weight should fit an existing rate. The cart’s total shipping weight may be outside configured ranges or not covered by the defined brackets.
Suggested checks/fixes:
Default package settings: The store’s default parcel (its dimensions/weight) is added to the shipment. If it’s too heavy, it can push the order beyond available weight ranges. Review and adjust the default package weight; a help resource was provided.
Shipping profiles: Ensure all products are assigned to a single shipping profile so one combined rate can be calculated.
Weight brackets: Create contiguous, non-overlapping ranges that fully cover expected combined weights (e.g., 0–1 kg, 1–2 kg, 2–3 kg). Confirm there is a bracket that includes typical multi-item totals (e.g., 2 kg together).
Status/outcome: No resolution confirmed. A support rep followed up; guidance centers on validating default package weight, unifying shipping profiles, and ensuring complete weight range coverage. Discussion remains open.
I have added weight to each item in my store and created various shipping rates depending on weight. When I check out, the different rates appear without a problem when I only have one item in the cart but when I add more than one, the weight does not add up and these options do not appear (even though the total weight does not exceed that indicated in the rates). Does anyone know how to fix it?
Happy to help. One things to consider when setting up weight based shipping, not only the weight of your product(s), but the weight of the default package size for your store. We have a resource on managing your default package to help you edit the dimensions/weight of this package and confirm if this is what is throwing your order weights outside of those shipping weight ranges you have setup.
If there is anything else I can help you with, please let me know.
Ensure all your products are in one shipping profile.
Add shipping rates based on different weight ranges, such as 0-1KG, 1-2KG, 2-3KG, etc. For example, if both products in the cart weigh 2KG together, there should be a weight range that covers 2KG.
Just wanted to loop back here to ensure that you were able to resolve your weight based shipping question. If there is anything else I can help you with, please let me know.
