I noticed that there is no way to apply a shipping profile to a collection and you have to in and manually select every single product that you want the shipping profile to be applied to. I have over 500 items . Is there any other way of doing this ?

Off the top of my I don’t think you can natively.
Automation tools like mechanic can do it over the api, they have a sample task using delivery-profile.id’s and product tags.

If you’re open to using a third-party solution, Automate Shipping Profiles can help with this. With Automate Shipping Profiles, you can create profile conditions based on, among other things, product collections. After setting up your profile conditions, run a bulk update to move products to the appropriate Profile. Then, whenever you add a new product to a collection, it will automatically be assigned to the right Profile.
You can create as many profile conditions as you need, so if you have multiple profiles based on collections, you can have a profile condition for each one.
