Looking to set up shipping rules on a clients website, but can’t seem to find a way to select options for certain parts of the UK such as the Isle Of Man, the north of Scotland, etc etc.
For the biggest items this would be extremely expensive to ship as they way upwards of 30kg, and shopify is only giving me the option of selecting or de-selecting Scotland (No exact cities etc). I don’t want to limit the whole country, cities like Glasgow and Edinburgh will be fine and the same price, but Inverness for example will be much greater.
Is there a way to do this or is an app needed? I don’t want to type postcodes in, ideally it would need to be an app that covers areas…
Hey there. I don’t believe there is a way to do it other than via post code. I know that with our shipping app (Starshipit), you’d use rules in the same way via postcode (and would just need to paste them in).
Our app JsRates might be able help you with this since it offers full flexibility and control by configuring your shipping rules using JavaScript. If you are keen, we can assist you with setting up your shipping rules (you can contact us on support@jsrates.com)
You can create the shipping rules by going into the shopify Admin and then going to setting for shipping and delivery. In the shipping section, make sure you’ve already selected the right shipping profile, if not, then choose the right one. Now create zone in the group locations and declare the zones or countries where you want to ship and where you don’t. After doing this, you can click on the done button, the process is completed.
I have already explained the complete method of setting up the shipping rules for specific towns or cities. I have one more suggestion regarding choosing the courier company as you have 30kg to ship, I would suggest you choose the courier company for same-day shipping at a reasonable price. Being an e-commerce business owner I have worked with a few companies and got a top response from every aspect.
