We make custom made products that are sold by businesses in other states. We ship directly to the end user customer but need to have the middleman’s business name and address on return label. How is this done?

Great question! The standard experience in Shopify is that if you are using Shopify Shipping to create your shipping labels, that the return address is filled in using the fulfillment location address setup in the inventory settings for the store.
I am not sure if this is something that could be done by a third party app, but it would be worth checking out apps like Shippo or Shipstation to see if they might offer this functionality.
Otherwise, you would need to order and print your return labels from outside of Shopify.
