Is anybody else upset by the new Shop App update? I used to be able to make “updates” on there, a little post with an image. I consistently got overt 1,000 impression for each update, and sometimes sales.
Now Shop App changed that to “posts” which looks exactly the same. I made a post recently. After one week, I finally got 1 impression.
That’s over 1000% less than before. What is going on here?
Yeah, a lot of people are seeing this. Shopify basically changed “Updates” into a more algorithm-based “Posts” feed, so it’s no longer shown directly to followers like before. Now your content has to compete and get engagement to be pushed. That’s why your reach dropped so hard.
Quick one, are you still just posting images or trying video/product tags?
My recent post was an image with a product tagged. But after one week it was only SHOWN to one person, that’s the crazy part.
Yeah that’s exactly the issue,
it’s not your content, it’s distribution.
Shop switched to an algorithm feed, so even if you tag products, image posts barely get pushed unless they get early engagement. That’s why you’re stuck at 1 impression.
Right now they seem to favor more “engaging” formats (especially video).
I will test a short video post and see if reach changes.
Quick question, do you have many Shop followers or was most of your old reach coming from non-followers?
I’m not sure who was being shown the previous “updates”, but I have 10.7k followers on the app.
I’m sorry but this sounds ridiculous. I thought perhaps I did something wrong or I had some settings incorrect, but you’re telling me this is normal? That out of my 10.7k followers, it only showed 1 person, a week later? I’m at a loss for words.
