Request from a Canadian Merchant who is on the Shop Pay Installments Trial
Excluding Products from Shop Pay Installments
We have some products in our store that have very low margins, example is a piece of equipment that retails for $8000 but costs us $7500 to import from the USA. Yes, the low margin is our choice, why? We are located in Winnipeg and the our customers aren’t afraid of ordering the same piece of equipment from a US competitor who will ship to the US Canadian border for very little money and the customer can then pick it up at a parcel receiver at the border. We are trying to remain competitive with the low margin. When a customer selects Shop Pay installments to make this purchase, the processing fees are $472.30. We make 27.80 on a $8000 purchase. Shopify isn’t allowing any products to be exempt from Shop Pay Installments. I’d like to make the request that they do.
Minimum Purchase Amount
I understand that the minimum purchase amount to be eligible to use the Shop Pay Installment option is $35. Again, I’d like to make a request that the merchant be able to set a minimum purchase amount, $200, $500, $1000 options would be my suggestion. Who needs to finance a $35 purchase? Ridiculous in my opinion.
