My shop relies heavily on a 3rd party app to allow marketplace sellers to also leverage my platform to sell their own products.
Of course all the literature I’m reading about 2.0 advises “people should be upgrading to 2.0 now/as soon as they can” etc but this ignores the reality of migrating such an integrated platform and marketplace such as mine.
The marketplace app I use is not yet compatible with 2.0 so I’m wondering what the future is looking like for people stuck on what Shopify now class as “vintage” themes.
Are we in danger of being rapidly left behind ? Cut off? Shut out? etc?
My platform sells a blend of digital products from various sources, homegrown, marketplace and utilises a few choice apps that don’t yet support 2.0 etc so migration will be a significant undertaking when (IF?) the 3rd marketplace app dev refactors it for 2.0 support in the future.
What are your thoughts and knowledge on this topic?
