Since the beginning of January we’ve run into issues with our visitor data in Shopify Analytics and I was curious if anyone was experiencing something similar and if so, if they had a fix.
-Traffic sources for these bots are always direct and have 100% bounce rate
-They’re hitting 404 pages that look like spam links to me: storeurl.com/Outdoor%20&%20Sports%20Toys, storeurl.com/Nintendo%20Wii%20Accessories, storeurl.com/Tires%20&%20Wheel%20Assemblies, etc.
-I can see the URLs they are hitting from Zendesk Chat, the IP addresses are always dynamic, and they typically come in 3 hour blocks (12am-2am, 1pm-4pm, 7pm-10pm)
I’ve reached out Shopify and the recommendation was to use an IP blocking app like Blockade, however since IP address is always different I don’t think this will really help me. I was going to look into something like Cloudflare’s Bot Management tool but wanted to reach out first to see if any other store owners were experiencing the same issue and what their fix was.
