Shopify Analytics - Sessions / Sales by Referrer is blind to MacOS

The Facebook Ads Manager seems to be reporting 3 times more sales than Shopify Analytics shows as sales or sessions coming from Social Sources. I’ve been trying to figure out which is wrong. I immediately suspected that Facebook has a vested interest in telling me that we’re earning more revenue via ads we run on FB than we really are. Shopify is clear that the actual number is much much lower.

However, that may not be the case. I checked Shopify’s “Sessions By Referrer” report and found that it’s under-reporting sessions…in fact it completely misses sessions from MacOS devices. I can run Windows 11 and Mac OS on my laptop at the same time. If I click the URL link to my website on our company Facebook page while using MacOS, Shopify Analytics does not add a count to Sessions by Referrer. BUT if I just click over to Windows11 running on the same laptop and do the exact same thing on Facebook, the Sessions by Referrer counter instantly increases by 1.

It doesn’t matter which link I click on our FB page (Shop Now, the Website URL in the About tab, a website url in a comment etc.) if I do it from my Mac (OS13.1), Shopify Analytics misses it entirely. On Windows11, Shopify captures every click.

Is anyone else having this level of discrepancy in their Shopify Analytics reports that deal with Social Media?
