I seem to have the opposite problem to a lot of people on here, I have notifications showing on my Shopify app on iOS that won’t go away. All notifications across my various stores have been read & cleared and yet I’m still showing to have 8 notifications. Really annoying as I keep thinking I’ve got orders. I’ve logged out & logged back in… they’re still there! Anyone else had that issue?
Topic summary
Users are experiencing persistent notification badges on the Shopify iOS app that won’t clear despite reading all notifications. The badges falsely indicate unread items, causing confusion about new orders.
Root Causes Identified:
- The “New Orders” toggle under Settings > Store Notifications > Notifications Badge may count orders as notifications
- Unarchived orders can trigger persistent notification badges
Solutions That Worked:
- Toggle the “New Orders” setting off and back on to reset the badge
- Check for and clear any unread notifications via the bell icon on the home screen
- Archive all orders, particularly any problematic or unarchived ones
Note: Leaving “New Orders” toggled off may prevent future order notifications. Multiple users confirmed that archiving orders successfully resolved the issue.
I’m having the same issue
I figured it out! In the iOS app under Settings > Store Notifications > Notifications Badge, turn the toggle switch for New Orders off. It is counting orders as notifications when that is on.
That is what support told me to do but when I turn it back on after restarting the phone the notification comes back. Are you saying we’ll still get notified with that turned off for new orders?
I had this issue and toggling off New Orders and then back on removed my erroneous alerts. I also ensured I had no unread notifications by clicking on the bell icon (top right of Home Screen). If you leave the New Orders toggled off I suspect you won’t get notified of new orders.
Thank you for your response! I went through the steps again and got the same results so I dug a little deeper and I see that I had an unarchived order because the customer said they never received the receipt and that is what has been causing this problem all along! She was a pain in the neck the day of and apparently has been bugging me ever since with that dreaded notification! Thanks again!
Haha! Glad you found it, and let’s hope they don’t cause you any more grief.
so for deleting this notifications badge for iPhone you need to archive the orders?
I was having the same annoying problem. I archived my orders and it went away.
