Main issue: Positioning a 3D artwork model in Shopify AR on a wall instead of the floor. AR (augmented reality) is functioning, but the model defaults to ground placement.
Context: A digital art gallery tested a 3D model (referred to as a GBS file) in the Debut theme, where AR is supported. The store link and password were shared for reference.
Developments: Early replies did not provide a fix. Multiple participants asked for a solution; the original poster reported that, as of earlier this year, no good native Shopify solution was available and they couldn’t make wall placement work within Shopify.
Latest update: A new suggestion links to an external demo page with a QR code that lets users place artwork on a wall via AR. This QR code demo is central to the proposed workaround, but it’s not confirmed to work within Shopify’s native AR setup.
Status: Unresolved/ongoing. Key open questions include whether Shopify supports wall anchoring natively and what model or configuration changes enable wall placement.
I am playing around with AR for our digital Art Gallery. I had someone create a test 3D Model as a GBS file which looks great. But the Artwork is on the floor. That’s not where customers usually hang place artworks :-). Anyone of you guys has an idea on where / what to edit in the model or within Shopify, so that the Artwork can be placed on the wall?
For reference, heres a link to our sandbox store. Password is “blaosi”.
Unfortunately not. Last time I checked was earlier this year and there this
was no good solution on the market and I couldn’t get it to work natively
in Shopify.
Hi @Choom , I might have found a solution to the issue you are describing. I notice I’m a bit late to the party but if you check out https://tripod-digital.co.nz/art/ about halfway down the page there is a TRY IT OUT section with a QR code. Once you scan that code you should be able to place artwork on your wall. Let me know if that is what you are looking for.
