Shopify asking for my address to be displayed on my store

Hello, recently I received an email from Shopify stating, “Section 4.1 of Shopify’s Terms of Service requires you to post the following on your Shopify store: contact information, including your business name, an accurate physical address, and email address” I fixed my store to have these things on the Contact Us page, except the accurate physical address. Since I do dropshipping and work from home, I don’t feel comfortable or safe adding my home address on my site for everyone to see. I responded to the email saying this and their response was “We are unable to provide you with legal advice. We suggest seeking independent legal counsel for further assistance or guidance on how to proceed with establishing a business address”. What can I do? I know many drop shippers who don’t list their home addresses on their Shopify store. I don’t feel comfortable with this. They also stated that if I don’t add it to my store then I will get my account terminated, I don’t think this is fair. Is there anyone who can help me?

How do I do either of those?

Even if you get a lawyer you will end up having to provide a business address.

So get a business address, a p.o box, a virtual business address etc.

Don’t seek random forum opinions about how to avoid deplatforming random peoples opinion is irrelevant to the platforms requirements and what they will do if you do not comply for some silly reason.

Your in someone else sandbox skirting around causing a legal issue for the sandbox-owner.

Your the one being unfair in this situation.

Shopify is only providing tools for you to use, they will not run your business affairs for you or open themselves to liability for you.

When you are advised by a platform for what actions, follow the guidance.

Notice how I didn’t ask for opinions, I wanted an answer. I’m new to this and didn’t know how it works. Shopify doesn’t email me back until days later, and the live chat gives me a “suggestion” that I shouldn’t add an address at all. So my bad for asking the community that could provide an answer when a billion-dollar company cannot. Plus you really can’t blame me for not wanting to leak my home address for the world to see on the internet. But thanks anyways.

That was a question seeking opinions on a legal matter.

Anyone responding to such questions is not your lawyer.

Everything said by someone who is not your lawyer is an opinion as they would not be there if were in front of a judge.

Being resentful of that business truth is good way to train yourself to not recognize when your getting exactly what you need to hear to learn how to avoid serious business problems… not just deplatforming.

Answers were provided, one for the address the other for handling legal matters.

You have to choose to recognize them and follow through on them:

So get a business address, a p.o box, a virtual business address etc.
