Shopify Asks for My Password, but I logged on with SSO

I logged onto Shopify.com (accounts.shopify.com) and I want to change my 2F authentication tool. But it asks me for my password. I logged on with SSO (specifically thru a Google work account). Why would it want my password. I don’t have a password as I use SSO. My SSO password is nobody’s business but my own and my SSO provider.

What do I tell it for a password. And if you think I should use my SSO password, then please don’t answer because that is insecure, and it means that you don’t understand how and SSO works. (Besides, I tried it and it doesn’t work.)

I ended up resolving by:

  • Logging on w/ my email address
  • Resetting the password for that
  • Reconnecting the account w/ my SSO
  • And then using that reset pw to reconfigure my 2FA application.
