Shopify Balance can only be managed by the Store Owner. No user–no matter what permissions are given–can transfer funds from Balance into our company bank account. And even the Store Owner can only transfer funds from Balance into our company bank account by manually making the transfer every day…it can’t be scheduled and can’t be more than $5k/day. All of these limitations seriously hamper our business’ finances.
The only way to have shopify’s & app’s fees deducted from payouts is to set up a Balance account…but there is so much that can only be done manually (not automated or scheduled) and so many limitations on what Users other than the Owner can do that Balance is hardly worth the trouble.
When will Shopify enable updated User permissions and/or automated/scheduled transactions in Balance?
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback here about Shopify Balance and it’s current features. I can fully recognize the value of some of those suggestions you made.
Shopify Balance is still a very new offering on our platform and we definitely plan on adding to it over the near future. While I am not able to provide a specific timeline for anything at this time, I can assure you that a lot of what you requested is being considered. Please keep an eye on the Shopify Changelog for new information about Shopify Balance and other features.
I also wanted to confirm that this is the feedback points you shared and that I will be passing this along to our developers on your behalf:
Shopify balance can only be managed by the store owner.
Transfers to bank account can only be done manually by the store owner.
Transfers to bank account are limited to $5k a day.
Don’t hesitate to continue sharing any feedback you may have. We always want to hear from our merchants on how we can improve!
Thanks for this information. However, we would like to understand if there is a way for us to set up automatic transfers to our bank without using Shopify Balance. In other words, is Shopify Balance a requirement to transfer our funds from Shopify Payment Services to our bank?
Shopify Balance is not required to receive your payouts. When you set up your payment gateway you will provide a bank account that your deposits will automatically be deposited into. If you wish to use Balance then it can assist in making those funds accessible faster for you.
We have already set up a Shopify Balance account. How do we disable it and can you provide a link to setting up automatic transfers directly to our bank?
There are no fees to keep your Balance account active, even if you are not currently using it. So changing the payout account will not affect your ability to use the Balance account in the future. If you wish to close your Balance account completely, please use the AI chat in our Help Center to request support with that. Our live chat team would be happy to assist you further.
It is a disaster. They froze our first payment of $7,500. Support cannot help. There is no support for Shopify Balance. Do not use it. We cannot get our payment.
I am really sorry to hear that your payout has been placed on a hold. I don’t have direct access to your merchant account, so I am not able to review this situation in detail or provide additional clarity into what has happened here. We absolutely continue to offer support for all our merchants and Balance users.
You can reach our authenticated support team through our Help Center or our Balance support team directly through the email address provided in your Balance Terms of Service in your admin. You can find this under Finances > Balance > Settings > Shopify Balance Terms of Service (bottom of the settings page).
Certain teams can only communicate via email, so it’s possible that our chat support may redirect you back to an email or different ticket for support.
