Shopify billing for plans that do not include Shopify app

Hey guys, I have a SaaS and we are currently about to launch shopify app as well.

The thing is that not all our customers gonna have Shopify, and we wanna make a special plan for ones that are gonna use it.

So my question goes:

Can we handle rest of the plans via Stripe and only ones that have our shopify app installed via Shopify Billing?

Do we need to than display other plans on shopify app or just one we have for shopify?

Thanks for any tip!

Hi @turquiseapple

Not sure if it would give you the right tip, but for sure, you will get a correct response from the Shopify app review team when you submit the app.

But think you need to have all plans go through the Shopify billing API. So think you can not display other plans if they are on Stripe.
But think, just showing that one special plan on the app will be fine. Other plans you should be able to display on your site, but separate.

How does it make sense that people that do not use shopify have to be included in the same billing process as the ones that have?

Our app is not shopify specific only and it makes it unreasonable to manage payments for those that are not using shopify, through shopify.

@turquiseapple I think you misunderstood.

Like I said, other plans, for people not using Shopify app I think you are fine to show them in your site, but not in app.

So

Yes, you can handle the rest of the plans via Stripe, but only on your site. And yes, only those who have the Shopify app installed via Shopify Billing.

Just one on Shopify, one you display in the app.
If you display other plans in Shopify app, to promote your Saas , you can not use Strpe, or have some outside links from Shopify app. Like you said it does not make sense for those that not using Shopify.

But you will get a better explanation from Shopify team when you submit the app.
