While trying to transfer our domain from Wix to Shopify, we realized our domain had been blocked back in 2020 due to some silly FDA letter which got resolved within days….Shopify chose not to wait for resolution and shut out account. We unfortunately have not found another ecommerce platform as efficient as Shopify, so we’re trying to get back but came to find out they not only closed the account - they blocked the domain. We emailed Trust and Safety and have not heard back. Anyone has experience with this and how did you resolve the issue?
Thank you!
I haven’t seen many cases like this, but from what I know, when a domain is blocked at the Shopify level it has to be reviewed by the Trust & Safety team — it’s not something regular support can override.
A few things you could try in the meantime:
Reply to your original Trust & Safety email thread every 24–48 hours so it stays active in their queue.
Open a separate support ticket through live chat or email and include the ticket number from Trust & Safety — this can sometimes help internal teams flag it faster.
Gather any documents that show the FDA issue was resolved back in 2020 so you can provide them immediately when they respond.
Unfortunately, only that team can unblock the domain, but persistence and having all proof ready usually helps speed up resolution.
While you wait, set up a temporary “coming soon” landing page on a different domain so customers can still find you and sign up for updates — it keeps your audience warm until the original domain is restored
Thanks! Yeah, we have emailed the Trust and Safety team…but I’ll do as you suggested and message frequently so we stay on top of queue. I think what I’ll do is use a new domain name and forward the old domain to the new one until it is resolved.
Thanks for the suggestion!
