Hey looking to get some insight on this… yesterday shopify recently restricted/de-activated my account due to a security concern. Today they refunded me around $2000 in previous paid bills. I’m totally confused, has this happened to anyone else?
Topic summary
Account was restricted/deactivated due to a stated “security concern.” The following day, Shopify issued refunds totaling about $2,000 for previously paid bills, with no explanation.
Operations later emailed that the store was reinstated and instructed the merchant to pay any unpaid invoices. Upon attempting payment, the account immediately froze again, blocking payment and reactivating the lock.
An attached screenshot shows the frozen-account notice and appears central to understanding the current lock status.
Status: unresolved. There is a conflicting account state (reinstated yet frozen) and unexplained retroactive refunds.
Open questions: what triggered the security flag, why prior charges were refunded, and how to complete payment without re-triggering the freeze. The poster asks if others have experienced this; no confirmed resolution or guidance is provided in the thread.
