When people purchase items through our site that are fulfilled through the collective, am I being sent emails asking for a review of the purchase? Sometimes, they even offer $$$ for providing a review.
There is a disconnect here as I am not purchasing the item… But this doesn’t mean there should be any contact from the supplier to my customers…
I would like to see if I am missing something here. Should Shopify just turn this request for a review off, or is Shopify asking me to review the Collective process?
Maybe someone from Shopify can look into this and explain it better.
I would post a screenshot but I can’t, .jpg files not allowed
Topic summary
Issue: A merchant using Shopify Collective reports receiving email requests to review purchases fulfilled via Collective, sometimes offering cash incentives.
Confusion: They did not purchase the items themselves, raising concerns about why they’re being asked to review and whether suppliers should be contacting their customers at all.
Questions for Shopify:
- Is this a glitch or expected behavior?
- Should these review requests be disabled, or are they intended to evaluate the Collective process?
- Who is triggering the emails (Shopify vs. supplier), and can this be turned off?
Evidence: The user tried to share a screenshot but couldn’t upload it due to .jpg restrictions.
Status: Unresolved/ongoing. Awaiting clarification from Shopify on the source of the review emails and how to prevent unwanted solicitations.
