Hey forum! I’m looking to list a digital product on my Shopify Collective account so that it can be sold by other retailers. For some reason, this appears to be unsupported. This seems strange to me as this blog post ( Digital Dropshipping: What It Is and How to Start (2026) - Shopify ) talks all about this exact thing. Am I missing a simple fix? Any ideas on how I can get started selling my digital products as a supplier on Collective? Has anyone found success doing so? Thanks guys!! Also @shopify consider this a bug report if no one can help me out…
Not a bug, it is on the channel’s unsupported list. The supplier requirements page for Collective says digital products and gift card products are not supported, and they sit in the same list as subscriptions, product bundles, combined listings, pickup in store and metafield syncing. Worth reading that whole list once before you plan anything around Collective, because it is a channel level restriction rather than something you can configure your way out of.
The blog post is not contradicting it either. Digital dropshipping there means any supplier to retailer arrangement. Collective is one specific channel with its own rules and the two are not the same thing.
The reason it lands that way is how a Collective sale actually moves. Your shipping rates flow through to the retailer and get shown at their checkout, the customer picks one, then the order drops into your admin and you ship direct to them. A product with the physical product box unchecked has no rate to quote and nothing to fulfill, so both ends of that flow have nothing to hold on to.
If you want to stay on Collective, the only route I know is making it genuinely shippable. An access card or a USB is a physical product and syncs like anything else, at the cost of you actually posting something and the buyer waiting on it. If you go that way, run one test order all the way through first and look at which customer email lands on your side of the order, because whatever tool sends your download link is going to key off that.
Otherwise a plain wholesale price list or an affiliate arrangement gets you in front of the same retailers without fighting the channel. What are you after here, retailers reselling it under their own storefront, or just more places it shows up?
There are specific stores that I am hoping to connect to. This would streamline the process a ton. Is there another app that would allow someone else to onboard my products into their catalogs?
