While we are preparing some of our clients for the checkout.liquid migration, due to business needs some won’t be able to migrate until a few days before. As it stands, on most of the sites we have that use the Shopify Customer Privacy API on the checkout.liquid page, window.Shopify.loadFeatures is no available any longer in the console, which is causing our scripts to throw errors, and customer privacy no longer respected. With respect to the deadline, this is a major issue for some of our clients and is a problem. We had no issues with our scripts up until a few weeks ago. I’ve tried using Shopify Plus support, but they "can’t give development advice’, which seems strange as the issue to me seems to be a decision that wasn’t communicated with us.
Has anyone else experienced this? Can someone confirm there was a change?
Currently the Consent Information is not available in the customer events pixels as a call to the Privacy API.
However each custom pixel can be configured so it only starts firing if certain consent requirements are met (Analytics, Marketing, Functional). This option is available above the custom pixel editor.
It sounds like you’re encountering significant challenges with the checkout.liquid migration and the disappearance of window.Shopify.loadFeatures. This indeed complicates respecting customer privacy settings and script functionality. We understand these technical disruptions can impact business operations severely, especially with tight deadlines. Although you’ve experienced limited support on development issues from Shopify Plus, I’d like to offer an alternative that might help.
Our app, Pandectes GDPR Compliance, includes a checkout extension that may serve as a solution for your current challenges. Additionally, we have developed workarounds for custom pixel tracking and other analytics integrations that might be affected by the changes you’ve described.
If you’re looking for a robust solution to ensure compliance and maintain functionality during and after your migration, consider trying Pandectes. It’s designed to integrate smoothly and address these very issues.
Feel free to reach out if you need more detailed information or assistance with implementation!
