I am offering a free digital PDF for customers to download using Shopify’s Digital Download App. On the products page it is selected to be a digital product and says the customer will not be prompted to enter a shipping address to receive the download.
However the customer is still being required to enter the shipping address when going through check out with just this free digital download in their cart. This is deterring the customer and adding a very unnecessary step in the check out process as I do not want or need this information.
How do I remove the prompt and fields for shipping address when checking out with a digital download?
I’d love to help you out with this. This is an unexpected behavior as the checkout is designed to only collect a billing address when a customer purchases a digital product. As long as you’ve set the product to be a digital product under the Shipping section of the product page within the admin, the shipping address will not be collected, regardless of the presence of the Digital Downloads app. That’s the only requirement for the system to know that the product is a digital one.
Now, I’d love to investigate this issue. So I can take a closer look, can you please share a screenshot of the checkout with the digital product in the cart? Additionally, can you also share a screenshot of your product settings, to confirm that it’s been set as a digital product?
